British consul: position towards Jerusalem, settlements has not changed
Palestine-UK, Politics, 1/4/2002

The British general consul in Jerusalem Geoffrey Adam has stressed that British position towards the question of Jerusalem and the settlements has not changed.

Adam added in a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Wednesday that settlements are illegal, rather constitutes a bulwark to the establishment of peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis. He stressed the need of halting the Israeli settlements, which is internationally rejected.

The British consul also called for the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace according to international legitimacy resolutions and to the establishment of the independent Palestinian state and complete recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed rejection of making any change in the holy city and the freedom of worship in the Christian and Muslims holy places.
