Egyptian exports on the rise-report

The value of Egyptian exports to outside countries hit some L.E. 12,498 billion in the first nine months of the year 2001 compared to L.E. 11,796 in the same period the year before.
Surveys of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization of Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated that Egyptian imports also increased, over the same period to reach L.E. 37.7 billion compared to L.E. 35.7 billion in the previous year.
Fuel represented 39.5 per cent of Egypt's exports, cotton 4.9 per cent and raw materials 4.7 percent and the remaining part of export are semi-finished and manufactured goods, according to the report.
As for imports, intermediary goods represented 40.3 percent, raw materials 12.4 percent and the remaining part is investment commodities.
