The Kuwaiti nation council prepares the first report on human rights in Kuwait
Kuwait, Culture, 1/3/2002
The chairman of the human rights committee at the Kuwaiti nation's council Abdul Mohsin Jamal has stated that the committee will issue the first report about human rights. A matter which is considered a landmark in showing the extent of Kuwait's interests in human rights.
In a press conference he held on Tuesday Jamal said that the report is published as a result of the democratic atmospheres in Kuwait, adding that such a report is but an answer to the international reports issued outside Kuwait by international organization.
He explained that human rights issues in Kuwait have started to take an international inclination following the incidents of September 11.
He indicated the accusations addressed to many over being involved in terrorism issues. He highlighted the achievements of the Kuwaiti committee, noting that a kindergarten for Kuwaiti women prisoners was established in collaboration with officials at the central prison, noting that this " kindergarten" is the first of its kind in the Arab world." He stressed that the " committee in charge of human rights has the full capacity to visit any place in Kuwait being in the prisons or at place of incoming foreign labor force, " adding this will be acknowledged by governmental sides concerned.
