Syrian conditions to resume negotiations with Israel

The Saudi daily al-Watan said that Syria had put five preconditions for resuming negotiations with Israel and the US refused to give Syria any guarantees to this effect.

In its Wednesday's issue, according to well-informed American and European conditions, the Syrian conditions are that negotiations not to be bilateral, not to start from the Zero point, adherence to Rabin's commitment provided for complete withdrawal from the Golan; not to use the negotiations as a pressing paper on the Palestinians, not to dismember the Syrian and Palestinian tracks as well as to get American obligations before the beginning of the negotiations.
