A new study for al-Wahda dam
Jordan-Syria, Economics, 1/3/2002

The Jordanian daily al-Dostour said on Wednesday, according to well-informed Jordanian sources that a new study for al-Wahda dam due to be installed at al-Yarmouk river between Syria and Jordan was completed last week.

The new study recommended the need to erect the dam of cement and lessen its storage capacity which was according to earlier studies estimated at 350 million cubic meters with the aim to increase the economic feasibility and to minimize its costs which is estimated at USD 200 million.

The sources expected that this new study will accelerate starting the implementation of the project in the mid of this year 2002.
