Syria-USA, Politics, 1/3/2002
Former US ambassador in Damascus Richard Murphy who is also the director of the Middle East studies at the foreign relations council in New York has stated that discussions are underway between Syria and the US on defining terrorism and means of dealing with it.
In a statement to the BBC Murphy added the US has asked the Syrians what it had asked other countries in the world what they ( the Syrians ) know about terrorism and what they are ready to do concerning it.
He indicated that the US talked to the Syrians about the Hizbullah party which is considered by it as a terrorist party, noting that no connection, was yet, found between the Hizbullah party and the al-Qaeda organization.
