Iraq renews its rejection for the return back of UN inspectors
Iraq, Politics, 1/2/2002
Iraq on Monday reiterated it will not permit the return back of the UN inspectors in charge of dismantling its weapons, who left the country three years ago accusing them of " spying."
To this effect, the Iraqi state- owned daily " Babel" owned by the elder son of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Ode, said " we will not permit the spying teams nor others to be in our holy land." The paper added:" our position in the new year is the same ambitious position which rejects subjugation and surrender," adding we will only accept the lifting of siege, imposed by the UN since 1990.
Chairman of the UN committee in charge of dismantling weapons from Iraq Hans Blex said it is " most expected" that Iraq had resumed comprehensive armament programs.
Baghdad, which calls for lifting the sanctions imposed on the country, rejects the return back of the UN inspectors to Iraq, who left the country in December 1998 on the wake of the American and British raids against Iraq, under the name" Desert Fox."
