Egypt's moves aim at realizing peace in Sudan

"Egypt is exerting a lot of efforts to realize peace in Sudan via the Egyptian-Libyan initiative, which won the consensus of all political powers, although some parties do not respond with it," said Egypt's new consul in Khartoum Mohammad Fawzi.

In press statements, Fawzi said the key logic for Egypt in its efforts aiming at maintaining Sudan's integrity is the country's national security in its genuine sense because it has a direct connection with Egypt's national security.

What Egypt seeks is a radical solution to the Sudanese problem and the Sudanese people's aspirations for development and stability, said Fawzi, adding Egypt deals with the Sudanese problem in a panoramic sense, not just the south issue.

Egypt's endeavours to bring about peace in Sudan are made out of the Sudanese parties acceptance of the Egyptian contributions and that is why we are working on finding a mechanism that would ripple the still water in the Sudanese problem, he said.

He said that the upcoming period will witness activation of Egyptian-Sudanese relations , particularly after the signing of 20 agreements in the various fields last July during prime Minster Atef Ebeid's visit to Khartoum.
