Kidnappers sentenced in Yemen

The special court in charge of cases relating to kidnapping foreigners on Saturday sentenced verdicts between 20to 25 year imprisonment for 4 Yemenis accused of kidnapping a German for ten days in November this year.
The court sentenced the main accused kidnapper Ahmad Nasser and Zaeidy and sentenced in absentia three of his partners for 20 year imprisonment. The three men are Hassan Ahmad al-Zaeidy, Muhammad Ali al-Zaeidy and Ahmad Tu'eiman, while the court found innocent the fifth accused person Aziz Shu'eil.
Armed men kidnapped the German Karl Leinart ( 47 year old), the technical director of Mercedes company agent in Yemen before the Yemeni army and police succeeded in releasing him.
Worthy mentioning the Yemeni government in October 1999 formed a special court in charge of reconsidering causes relating to kidnapping foreigners carried out by armed Yemeni tribes with the aim to pressure the government to achieve material benefits.
