Morocco-Tunisia, Politics, 12/29/2001

Morocco and Tunisia signed in Rabat on Friday an executive cooperation program in the fields of youth, childhood and sports, in conformity with the bilateral agreement of cultural, technical and scientific cooperation and of recommendations of the high joint commission.

Under the program, the two Maghreban countries will exchange delegations for participation in scientific camps on environment protection, slated for next July in Tunis and next August in Morocco. A Moroccan delegation will compete in the national Olympiads of computer sciences in Tunisia next November, a band of young musicians will be performing in the Tunisian national festival of youth centers while a Tunisian music band will take part in the Moroccan throne day festivities (July).

The two states agreed to exchange expertise in sports medicine and doping.

Part of the program, the Moroccan Royal institute of executive training and the Tunisian department of executive training were twinned.

The program also defines cooperation activities in higher education, such as the exchange of university teachers and the creation of a joint website.

The executive program was signed by the two countries' youth and sports ministers, Morocco's Ahmed Moussaoui and Tunisia's Abderrahim Zouari.

The covenant was signed at the end of the 7th session of the youth and sports ministerial council of the Arab Maghreb Union held in Rabat Dec. 26-27.
