Somali opposition urges the US to strike their country
Somalia, Politics, 12/29/2001

Three leaders of the opposition Somali groups on Friday called for international military intervention in Somalia, saying that al-Qaeda and al- Itihad groups have many bases in the northern parts of the country.

News reports quoted Hassan Muhammad Nour Dodo; Gen. Abdullah Nour Ghabio and Hassan Aided in a press conference in Addis Ababa that foreign intervention is considered important in order to stop the continuity of the extremist groups in Somalia.

Ghabio said that there are three bases inside Somalia for al-Qaeda and al-Itihad groups and they take the Southern cities of Kesmayou and Busasou and the adjoining areas as headquarters to them.

He expressed his readiness to provide 50,000 troopers of his forces to fight beside the international forces against the two said groups.
