Arab higher education ministers to create fund for Palestinian students

Arab ministers of higher education and scientific research approved a Palestinian proposal to establish a fund to support Palestinian students.

The ministers who held their eighth session in Cairo called on the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to back the fund to assist the Palestinian cultural and education activities.

They also urged the Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ALECSO) to complete the establishment of a system designed to assess performance of Arab education and scientific research institutions.

The session also called the Arab states to endorse intellectual property laws and to establish a regional patent office.

The participants also agreed to adopt a unified higher education system in order to enable students draw benefit from positive experiences in various Arab universities.
