Moroccan enterprises collected 10.67 million dh in fund raising operations to assist palestinians
Morocco-Palestine, Culture, 12/26/2001
The fund raising operations launched by La Confederation Generale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) in January 2001 enabled to collect, up to last October, 10.67 million Dirhams (about US$ 927,826) that were transferred to the Palestinian authority, the CGEM said in a release.
The CGEM move was destined to help the Palestinian workers and farmers, victim of the blockade decreed by the Israeli army for months.
To ensure success to this emergency humanitarian action, the CGEM conducted the operation in cooperation with the social welfare fund "Caisse Nationale de Securite Sociale" that was entrusted with levying 50 DH (about $ 5) per salary. The levied amount was paid by the enterprise.
At the launch of the operation, the CGEM had called all Moroccan enterprises to participate in the operation, the target being to raise 5 million dollars to assist the Palestinians.
