Kuwaiti parliament stands against carrying weapons in the country
Kuwait, Politics, 12/25/2001
A report issued by the Kuwaiti nation's council (parliament)'s specialized committee has called on the Kuwaiti government to " challenge the phenomenon of carrying weapons in the country because it threatens the security and safety of citizens."
The committee which is composed of parliamentarians representing conservative trends has called to " rapidness in implementing the law provided for banning mixing of the two sexes in educational institutions." The report blamed the government over " being unjustifiable looseness in doing so."
The report also warned against the fact that " More than one governmental side make contradictory statements on the same topic."It called for taking into account unifying the source of statement and to be through an official spokesman to prevent such contradiction. In October this year, the Kuwaiti government approved the nomination of the minister of information Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahd as a spokesman for the government.
On the other hand, the report criticized members of the government because they are not careful to attend the sessions of the parliament in order to guarantee the dialogue between the executive and legislative authorities.
