Arab League Chief in Beirut to Prepare for Arab Summit

Arab League secretary general, Amr Moussa, started this Monday a visit to Beirut for talks with Lebanese officials on preparations for the coming Arab summit scheduled to be held in the Lebanese capital next March
Moussa will meet the head of state General Emile Lahoud, the speaker of the parliament, Nabih Berri, and the Prime Minister, Rafic Hariri, as well as the foreign minister, Mahmoud Hamoud.
Amr Moussa had told reporters before flying to Beirut that he would discuss with Lebanese officials the follow-up and implementation of the resolutions made by the extraordinary meeting of Arab foreign ministers held last Thursday in Cairo.
He also announced that the Arab follow-up committee, made up of ten Arab countries including Morocco, will hold a meeting on January 4 in Cairo, to discuss the material backing to be extended to the Intifada and the projects carried out by the Islamic development Bank (IDB) in the Palestinian territories, in line with the resolutions of the Arab summit held Last March in Amman, Jordan.
