Morocco, Ukraine sign accords on trade and investments
Morocco-Ukraine, Politics, 12/24/2001
Morocco and Ukraine signed in Rabat Monday two accords providing for development of trade and encouraging investments between the two countries.
The agreements were signed by Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, and Ukrainian peer, Anatoli Zlenko, who started on Sunday an official visit to Morocco.
The first agreement means to develop trade relations between the two countries, which undertake to grant each other the most-favored nation status regarding duties, taxes and customs procedures. The agreement also encourages the exchange of business delegations and the signing of long and short-term contracts between trade organizations.
The second agreement, designed to promote and encourage investments between the two countries, stipulates that each country will grant to the other country's economic operators the same facilities enjoyed by investors of a most-favored nation. The agreement also makes it easy to transfer income gained from investments.
During the Benaissa-Zlenko meeting, the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy handed his Moroccan peer a message from Ukrainian president, Leonid Koutchma, to king Mohammed VI.
