Voting operations started on Sunday morning in the three islands of Comoros on the draft constitution aiming at putting an end to the separation and constitution crises the country suffers.
The UN development program provided all needs for casting the votes whose results will be announced officially today.
Some 225,000 voters from Comoros islands were invited to cast their votes. These include 82,000 in Anjoine and 12,000 from the smaller island of Mohelly and other parts of the greater Comoros..
It is presumed that the draft constitution will put an end to the doubled separation and constitutional crises resulting from the declaration of Anjoine independence on August 3, 1997.
The draft constitution states to convert the Islamic Federal republic of Comoros to a new federation " Comoros federation" with a very expanded self- rule for each island and organizing elections by direct voting in 2002 in order to elect the executive commissions and the parliament for the federation and every island.
