US tour-operators allocate up to $ 40 mln for promotion of Morocco bound
Morocco-USA, Economics, 12/22/2001

A group of American tour operators who market the Morocco bound on the US market say they are ready to allocate between US$ 30 to 40 million to increase the number of US visitors to Morocco.

US tour-operators, struck by a 12% drop in the number of US tourists to Morocco from 122,000 Americans in 1999, combined to effects of the September 11 attacks on New York, asked Moroccan authorities to take moves to preserve and develop tourist flows between the two countries. Morocco will be contributing US$ 3 to 4 million in the promotion campaign.

The campaign will be featuring ads, public relations operations, cultural and gastronomic events to give to US citizens a taste of Morocco and show them the safety of the Moroccan destination.
