Head of spanish socialist party: King Mohammed wants Moroccan-Spanish relations to resume normality

Morocco's King Mohammed VI wants Moroccan-Spanish relations to resume their normal course, said head of the Spanish opposition "Socialist labor party," Jose Luis Zapatero.

Zapatero who met during his visit to Morocco earlier this week the Moroccan sovereign said King Mohammed VI explained problems facing Morocco in the issue of illegal emigration and insisted on the need for the European Union to contribute to Moroccan efforts to fight the flow of illegal immigrants. He also noted that Morocco receives permanently waves of illegal emigrants from sub-Sahara and other regions of the world.

Regarding the Sahara issue, Zapatero said this is a priority concern for Moroccan authorities and called for supporting the UN secretary general settlement initiative. The PSOE, he went on, genuinely wants peace and stability in the Sahara and wants the world body to be given a chance to do its job to resolve the problem.

The head of the Spanish opposition party said he was impressed by the personality of King Mohammed VI who really wants normal relations between the two Mediterranean countries.
