Arab League ignores a call for dialogue by Somali war lord Hussein Aided
Somalia, Politics, 12/21/2001

The Arab League has ignored a call almost official addressed earlier by the Somali war lord Hussein Aided one of the most prominent figures who stands against the provisional Somali resident Abdul Qasem Salad Hassan on the need to open channels of dialogues between the Arab league and the Somali opposition.

News reports said the Hussein Aided has recently sent a special message to the Arab League chief Amre Mousa through the Arab League office in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, in which he asked for preparing proper conditions for him ( Aided ) to acquaint the Arab League with the view point of the Somali opposition towards current developments on the Somali arena.

Official sources at the Arab League said that Amre Mousa ignored replying Aided's message in a clear remark to the Arab League rejection to dealing with the Somali opposition groups which carry weapons in the face of the Somali authority and refuse to join comprehensive national reconciliation process in Somalia.

The same sources explained that the Arab League put all its political and moral weight behind the legitimacy represented by the provisional Somali President Abdul Qasem Salad Hassan, whose regime is recognized by the UN and the African Unity Organization.
