Kuwait is the first Arab country in using the Internet
Regional, Local, 12/21/2001
An Egyptian study has revealed that the Kuwaitis are the first among the Arabs in using the Internet, according to a field study carried out by a specialized Egyptian research side.
According to this study the Arab Gulf states in general are witnessing a notable turnout from both the two sexes because of the " close nature of the Arab Gulf society," which takes into account social habits and traditions which do not permit mixing between the two sexes.
As for the peak time in using the web, the study said it commences at 11 p.m. for the people of the Gulf, 9 p.m. for the Egyptians and that only 5% of the Arabs use the internet during day time.
The study, on the other hand, said that students of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are the first users of the web for educational purposes and then followed by Egypt, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, respectively.
