Israel should have better peace intentions, says Maher
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 12/20/2001
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher said Israel should better produce real actions that prove its readiness for peace.
In press statements late Wednesday, Maher said that the Arab foreign ministers will discuss in their emergency meeting on Thursday the dangerous situation in the region and the occupied territories as well as means to stabilize the ceasefire following Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's speech.
It seems that the Israeli stance is unlikely to adopt an attitude favouring the stabilization of the ceasefire for pushing ahead with political action despite its agreement to hold security meetings, Maher said.
Holding meetings is not the thing that matters but rather an improvement to Israeli real peace intentions, the Foreign Minister said.
He called on the international community to work hard to put an end to the Israeli practices.
