Moroccan official surveys in Yokohama conference Morocco's actions for children protection

Moroccan minister in charge of women conditions, family and children protection and the integration of handicapped persons, Nezha Chekrouni, surveyed before participants in the conference on sexual exploitation of children, held in Yokohama (Japan) Morocco's actions for the protection of children.

The four-day conference opened Monday in the presence of Queen Silvia of Sweden and Princess Takamado of Japan.

After the Moroccan official surveyed children protection efforts undertaken by Princess Lalla Meryem, chairwoman of the national children rights observatory, and by the Moroccan government, she presented to the forum results of the Arab-African regional encounter against sexual exploitation of children for commercial ends, held in Rabat last October. She also underscored regional priorities and strategies and major recommendations defined at the Rabat conference.

The conference also featured several workshops dealing with sex trade prevention and protecting and supporting children victim of sexual exploitation for commercial ends. Chekrouni chaired a workshop on regional strategies in the middle east and Africa and held work session with several participants including French minister for family, childhood and handicapped persons.
