Emergency meeting for Arab foreign ministers today
Regional-Syria, Politics, 12/20/2001

The Arab foreign ministers will convene an emergency meeting today in Cairo with the participation of the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara.

Well-informed sources in Damascus said that the meeting will deal with one main Topic relating to the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and means of confronting it and coming out by a clear and united Arab position, calling for boycotting all forms of political and economic relations with Israel as well as closing all Israeli offices in the Arab states.

Well-informed sources also indicated the importance of this meeting and the need of reaching a clear and brave Arab position that reflects the ambitions and hopes of the Arab public so as the Arabs will move from the state of denunciation and condemnation to acting, investing for this purpose all their potentials and relations with the world's smaller and greater countries to pressure Israel and force it to halt its aggression against the Palestinian people and implementing international legitimacy resolutions provided for the foundation of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as a capital and complete withdrawal from the Golan and the Shebaa farms until June 4, 1967 border line.

The sources expressed hope that today's meeting will give a clear picture to the world as a whole that the Arabs cling to supporting the Palestinian people and maintain solidarity with their Intifada until their national objectives are attained.
