Bahrain's elections law next week

In its session to be held next Sunday, Bahrain's Cabinet will announce its consent on the municipality council election system law which will be held in the first half of 2002.
According to the new municipal election law project, participation in the municipal councils elections will be available to all who have the Bahraini identity or those who acquired the Bahraini nationality since ten years.
The people of Bahrain, at their different trends show great interests in the municipal elections as they precede the legislative and parliamentary elections expected to be held in 2003. Elections that are prepared for by various political trends through establishing political societies that represent all political colors. Observers expect these societies to be converted in the near future to political parties, should the next Bahraini national council will approve the principle of party pluralism in the country.
