Clashes and killing in Yemen

Some 12 persons were killed in clashes that took place between special units of the Yemeni army and police and tribal men in a village to which persons suspected to belong to al-Qaeda organization had resorted.

News reported quoted tribal sources as saying that units from the Yemeni army and police backed by helicopters bombarded on Tuesday al-Hossen village in Ma'reb province, which is besieged since Tuesday morning in search of members who have recently returned back from Afghanistan.

On the other hand, an eye witness said that fire was exchanged between the armed forces and armed men from Obeida village which control the village to which the " al-Qaeda members" resorted, noting that several persons were killed or wounded from the two sides.
