Spanish opposition leader: UN initiative for agreement on Sahara issue needs to be supported

Secretary general of the Spanish Socialist Labor Party (PSOE), Jose Rodriguez Zapatero, said in Rabat Tuesday the United Nations initiative meant to reach an agreement between parties to the Sahara issue should be given a chance in order to overcome the present situation.
The leader of the Spanish opposition party who is on a visit to Morocco told a press conference his party believes that the UNO should be given a chance to reach an agreement for a settlement of the Sahara issue and should be allowed to work and hold dialogue with all parties.
He added that he listened with interest to the stand of Moroccan officials and pointed out there is some understanding over the issue and over stands expressed.
The PSOE secretary general, who started on Sunday a visit to Morocco, was received by King Mohammed VI and held a series of talks with several Moroccan officials.
