Arab League nominates its candidate for post of commissioner general for civilizations dialogue
Regional, Culture, 12/18/2001
Well-informed sources at the general secretariat of the Arab League (AL) said that the secretary general of the Arab league Amr Moussa will announce during the few coming days the name of the candidate who will occupy the post of the general commissioner for the dialogue of civilizations.
The sources expected that former Egyptian minister of culture and information Ahmad Kamal Abu al-Majd to be appointed to this post.
However, by this Abu al-Majd will be the third person to be appointed for the post of the commissioner general following the information commissioner Hanan Ashrawi ( Palestine), and the civil society commissioner Taher al-Masri ( Jordan).
Meantime, the AL chief is making consultations and contacts to choose the AL fourth commissioner for the Arab expatriates affairs who is expected either from Lebanon or from the countries of the Arab Maghreb area.
