This came in a message of congratulations President Arafat sent to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Aid-Fitr, marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
"Following the dangerous escalation caused by Israel and the increase of the acts of massacres, of assassinations and of destruction of edifices of the Palestinian Authority (.), We appeal to you, in your capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to urgently intervene and to double efforts with the United Nations and with all peace-loving powers with a view to stopping this Israeli aggression against our people, its holy shrines and our territories, ensuring an international protection to our people and finding an international mechanism likely to compel the Israeli government implement the already concluded accords and arrangements, including the Tenet Plan and the Mitchel Report and resume negotiations on the basis of the land for peace principle and of international legitimacy resolutions," Arafat said.
Arafat underlined that the blessed Aid Al-Fitr is celebrated at a time the Palestinian people continues to be subjected to a total embargo of 14 months now and to a barbarous Israeli aggression that went beyond all limits. This escalation, President Arafat said, has entered a very dangerous phase with shelling of presidential aircrafts, their tarmac and other dependencies of the heliport, of all institutions and edifices of the Palestinian National Authority and of the Palestinian police in the cities of the West Bank and Gaza.
Arafat's message also carried best wishes of good health and happiness to King Mohammed VI and of more progress and prosperity for the Moroccan people.
