Statements quoted by Bush against Syria and Lebanon denied
Regional-USA, Politics, 12/17/2001
Official American sources have denied what was stated by the Israeli mass media of statements attributed to the US President George Bush about Syria and Lebanon.
On Saturday evening, the US embassy in Beirut circulated a statement which said that the spokeswoman for the Embassy Ann Olerry announced on behalf of the US under secretary of state William Burns and the US ambassador in Beirut Vincent Battle that the White House denied President George Bush to have had made statements attributed to him in which he said that if Syria and Lebanon will give protection to Hamas and the Hizbullah the two countries will not be differ them from Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, the spokesman for the White House Ary Fleisher on Friday denied what was stated by the Israeli daily Yadhout Ahronot of statements attributed to the US President George Bush including criticism to Syria, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and those who support the Arabs at the US foreign ministry. Fleisher described what was issued by the Israeli paper as " rubbish" stressing that President Bush did not make these statements and they are groundless.
Worthy mentioning that this is not the first time in which the Israeli media, quote Jewish organizations, in statements attributed to American officials, damaging American- Arab relations and then by their turn the American officials issue denial statements concerning them.
