Oman reduces entry visa fees to its territories to encourage tourism

Oman has decided to reduce entry visas to its territories as from January 5, 2002 and to grant the visas from its airport so as to encourage tourism.

In a joint statement with the Omani police department, the Omani ministry of trade and industry said that the visa fees of Oman to businessmen tolled seven Omani Riyals ( USD 2.7), the tourism visa is five Riyals ( 1.9 USD), while the visa given to GCC residents is of 3 Riyals ( USD1.1).

Moreover, the Omani authorities established a free of charge visa granted to visitors coming in sea trips to any port and who desire to stay less than 24 hours.

The statement also added that visa will be also given on other borders of the Sultanate when all necessary facilities will be ready.

Worthy mentioning that Oman seeks to develop the sector of tourism in the country with the aim of finding out work opportunities for the Omani and to versify income sources.
