Gov't exerts more efforts to eye bigger share of foreign markets
Egypt, Economics, 12/13/2001

Egyptian Minister of Industry and Technological Development Ali Al Saeidi Wednesday held separate meetings with the ambassadors of the US, Spain, Italy and India on boosting bilateral cooperation in the industrial and technological domains.

In press statements, the official said the meetings are part of his ministry's keenness on the activation of cooperation with world countries to open up new markets for Egyptian exports.

US Ambassador David Welch voiced his country's keenness on the update of Egyptian industries, describing ties as very distinguished.

"Egypt is keen on boosting cooperation with Spain in the field of food industries, "said El Saeidi.

He added that his meeting with the Italian Ambassador tackled furthering cooperation in textiles, marble, small and medium scale industries and chemical industries.

The Italian envoy asked the Minister to meet Italian investors for discussion on obstacles facing them, especially as far as customs are concerned.

The Indian Ambassador invited AL Saeidi to visit India to participate in an industrial conference on January 10-12.

He voiced his country's desire to access large African markets, especially those of the COMESA.
