US keen to assist in industrial development

Egypt and the United States held talks yesterday to discuss measures aimed at enhancing economic and industrial cooperation.
Minister of Industry Ali el-Saidi met with US Ambassador to Cairo David Welch to address the joint programme of the European Union (EU) for modernizing Egyptian industry.
The programme is part of a national strategy to make local industry more competitive.
Welch stressed Washington's desire to assist Egypt in its industrial modernization scheme.
He highlighted the two countries' distinguished bilateral ties and reviewed American aid programs.
