Jordanians held in the US because of September 11 incidents
Jordan-USA, Local, 12/12/2001

The Jordanian ambassador in Washington Marwan al-Mashar said that the US security authorities have so far arrested 23 Jordanian citizens to investigate them over the incidents of September 11 in the US.

In an interview with the BBC on Tuesday al-Mashara added that accusations addressed to those Jordanians relate to expired stays or renewing travel documents.

He ruled out that any of those Jordanian detainees to have links to September 11 incidents. He added that more than 1000 Arab citizens were arrested during the past months to investigate them concerning the said incidents. Most of those detained Arabs are students studying in the USA.
