American proposals for peace in Sudan acceptable, Sudanese official says

Ghazi Salah Eddine al-Atabani, the advisor for the Sudanese President for peace affairs has described the chances for maintaining agreement between the Sudanese government and the American delegation currently existing in Sudan concerning proposals of the US peace envoy in Sudan John Danfourth as "reasonable."

The Sudanese official told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am on Tuesday that the Sudanese government had proposed to the American delegation a comprehensive proposal and has more four points, over those recently debated by US envoy John Danforth to the Sudanese government and the rebellion movement.

The Sudanese official added that the government is debating a framework paper that can include altogether the question of peace in southern Sudan with bilateral relations in the Sudanese- American relations.

On the other hand, the rebel movement announced by its spokesman Yasser Araman, its consent on the proposals of the American envoy Danforth in order to establish peace in Sudan especially the proposals relating to halting kidnapping and finding out secure passages in order to reach humanitarian aids and to stop bombarding planes carrying humanitarian aids.

Araman also told the paper that the movement has prepared detailed views on the American proposals and it is expected that the American delegation would have received it on Monday from the rebellion movement's delegation in the south.
