King Mohammed chairs work session on royal letter on decentralized management of investment operations
Morocco, Politics, 12/11/2001

Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired Monday at the royal palace in Casablanca a work session devoted to finalizing the draft royal letter that the sovereign decided to address to the Prime Minister, the royal office said in a statement.

The royal letter consecrates a decentralized and proximity management of investment operations through placing regional investment centers under the responsibility of the Walis (senior governors) and governors, the statement said.

The sovereign pointed out that the measures enunciated in the royal letter translate his firm resolve to promote investments and confer a concrete impact to the new concept of authority, by putting this authority at the service of the citizen and development, in line with the orientations that came in the royal speech he delivered on October 12, 1999 in Casablanca.

After he congratulated the work team that contributed to drafting the letter, the king voiced appreciation for the content of the letter that he will seal and said he will shortly chair an enlarged meeting that will provide opportunity to present the content of the letter to the public opinion, the statement said.

The work session was attended by minister of the interior, Driss Jettou, advisors to the king Mohamed Kabbaj, Mohamed Moatassim, Ms. Zoulikha Nasri and Ahmed El Midaoui, director of the royal office, Mohamed Rochdi Chraibi, minister of industry, trade, energy and mining, Mustapha Mansouri, secretary general of the government, Abdessadeq Rabia, secretary of state for the interior, Fouad Ali Al Himma, and charg? de mission at the royal office, Fadel Benyaich.
