Kuwait denies to be a military base for the war run in Afghanistan
Kuwait-Afghanistan, Politics, 12/11/2001

A high ranking Kuwaiti government official has stressed that Kuwait is not a military base nor an operation room where the war against Afghanistan is run.

The source denied the news reports which said that the US has converted the leadership of its naval forces in Afghanistan to Kuwait, noting the impossibility of attaining this target due to the geographic distance between the two countries ( Kuwait and Afghanistan.) The Kuwaiti source added that news reported to this effect are fabricated and categorically null and void, adding that it is regrettable to involve Kuwait's name in many issues that it has no links to.

However, news reports on Sunday quoted American defense sources and officials as saying that the US has converted the leadership of its land forces in Afghanistan to Kuwait and delegated the commander of the American third army to Kuwait to run these operations.
