Moussa heads for Doha
Regional, Politics, 12/10/2001
Arab League Secretary-General condemned late Sunday Israel's decision to ban travel of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to Doha to attend meetings of the Organization of Islamic Conference 1 (OIC) foreign ministers, slated for Monday.
On arrival in Doha, Moussa branded the Israeli decision as further proof to the illegal measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa left Cairo on Sunday for Doha to take part in the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) ministerial meetings.
It is expected the Arab foreign ministers currently present in Doha will hold a consultative meeting.
The OIC foreign ministerial meeting is being held at a critical stage, Moussa said, vocalizing hope that such a meeting would come up with a one Islamic stance in the face of Israel's continued aggressions on the Palestinian people.
Moussa denied claims that the emergency Arab foreign ministerial meeting, previously scheduled to be held in Cairo on Sunday, was called off due to American pressures. Such allegations are baseless, the Arab League chief said.
