ISESCO calls UNESCO to intervene to Stop Killing of Palestinian School Children
Palestine-Regional, Culture, 12/10/2001

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO, based in Rabat) has called on the UNESCO to move to stop the killing of Palestinian school children.

In a letter to UNESCO director general, Kiochiro Matusuura, ISESCO chief, Abdulaziz Othman Al-twaijri, appealed to the U.N agency to take urgent steps and appropriate position by requesting Israel to put an end to its aggression against the Palestinian people and to halt the destruction of Palestinian education institutions and historical monuments.

Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Al-twaijri called upon the UNESCO Director General to pressure Israel to comply with the provisions of UNESCO's charter, and international law and to guarantee the right to life and to education for the Palestinian people.

"The World -which is following with concern the killing and shelling of the Palestinian School children with the most lethal weapons by the Israeli occupation forces and the demolishing of Schools, Colleges and institutes onto the heads of their own students and professors, thus defying all international laws and regulations - is today looking to UNESCO in the hope that it will, with your leadership, take action at the right time and take the right decision," Al-Twaijri said.

Al-twaijri also appealed to the ISESCO member states to help the Palestinian people and side with them under the difficult circumstances they are going through, and called upon them to intervene at all levels, in order to stop the barbarous aggression against the Palestinian people and salvage the Palestinian education institutions and the cultural and civilizational hallmarks.
