Saudi port for exporting Sudanese meat to Arab Gulf states
Saudi Arabia-Sudan, Economics, 12/10/2001
Sudan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to using the Saudi port of Jeddah to export the Saudi meats and cattle to the Arab Gulf states after Saudi Arabia had lifted the banning imposed on the imports of living livestock from East Africa.
Sudan's livestock minister Rayak Qai told the Sudanese paper al-"Sahafi al-Dawli " in its Sunday's issue after he came back from Saudi Arabia, that according to this agreement Sudanese meat and livestock will be exported to all Arab Gulf states through the Saudi port of Jeddah instead of using ships to these country and this will result in reducing costs.
The Sudanese minister added that the agreement avails Sudan to export huge amounts of livestock and meats to these countries.
Qai explained that exporting livestock will be during the coming phase through the Bourse so as to prevent competition among exporters and to keep the prices steady.
