Thailand Prepares Evacuation Plan for Workers in Israel

Thailand has prepared an evacuation plan for Thai workers in Israel should the security situation there deteriorate, the Thai permanent secretary for labor and social welfare said.
Issara Chantaraprasert, whose statements were reported by Thai News Agency TNA, said there were presently 26,186 Thai laborers working in Israel, the Gaza strip and the West Bank.
The Labor and Social Welfare Ministry had coordinated with the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv, and since the beginning of the recent tensions had visited and telephoned the Thai laborers, he said. Issara said if the situation worsened Thai laborers living in the north of Israel would be immediately evacuated via boat to Jordan or Egypt, while those in Tel Aviv or the central and southern regions would return to Thailand by air or sea.
