American envoy postpones visit to Beirut

The US ambassador to Lebanon Vincent Battle has announced that developments in the region led to the postponement of the visit of the US under secretary of state for the near East Affairs William Burns to Beirut.
Following his meeting on Friday with the speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabeh Berri, Battle said that Burns will be visiting Beirut next week, noting the he had discussed with Berri conditions in the region in light of the developments in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
