Peres: Arafat did not do enough to fight 'violence'
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 12/8/2001
The Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres has called on the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat to impose his control on the Palestinian security forces and to arrest Palestinians wanted by Israel.
In an interview with the Israeli radio on Friday Peres claimed that Arafat did not do enough to fight what he called " violence."
Peres said that the meeting he had held with the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher on Thursday dealt with means of implementing cease fire in order to pave the way for resuming negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian sides.
