Libya renews request for Egypt's adherence to Maghreb grouping

Libya has renewed a request for Egypt's adherence to the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), set up in 1989 by Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania. Egypt adherence to the Maghreban union will reinforce the grouping, Libya said at the end of a meeting of the Egyptian-Libyan political cell. Egypt already holds the status of observer within UMA.
