Morocco, Politics, 12/7/2001

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by his brother Prince Moulay Rachid and his cousin Prince Moulay Ismail, got informed on several cultural and social projects in the Dar Bouazza commune, near Casablanca, and distributed foodstuffs to the poor in this commune.

The social and cultural projects, worth 3.9 million DH, (about $ 339,130) are financed by the Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation.

They include the construction of a vocational training center for women that will contribute to the integration of women in the socio-economic development process through the training of young girls to trades demanded in the Casablanca region. The vocational training office and the 2020 association will contribute to the project, worth 1.5 Million DH (nearly $130,434).

Another project provides for the construction of an educational center for students. The center, to cost 1.0 million DH ($86,956), will be co-financed by the Al-Mouhit association.

The sovereign also got informed on a project to build a youth center to serve as a socio-educational and leisure space for youth. The center, worth 1.4 million DH ($121,739), will be co-financed by the 2020 association.

King Mohammed VI then distributed foodstuffs (flour, vegetable oil, sugar, tea) to needy persons in the commune in the frame of the operation sponsored by the Mohammed V Foundation on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and the national solidarity campaign. The operation is to benefit 800 households in the Dar Bouazza commune and 410,000 households in the rural world at large.

The sovereign afterwards headed to the Ain Sebaa district in Casablanca where he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a vocational training center within the Ain Sebaa rehabilitation center for minors.

The center, to be built over 7000 m2 will include schoolrooms, workshops, sport grounds and administrative premises. It will cost 6.0 million DH ($521,739) to be donated by the Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation.

The Foundation also donated the rehabilitation center computers, TV sets, pedagogical books, washing machines, blankets, mattresses, beds, chairs and tables.
