One Palestinian killed, many wounded by Israeli forces

The Palestinian policeman Taj al-Masri (23 year old) was killed and two other policemen were wounded after they were hit by the Israeli bullets and shells of the Israeli artillery during the incursion of the Israeli tanks in Beit Lahia and al-Soudaneyah area to the north of Gaza.

A Palestinian security source said that the Israeli forces held the body of the murdered " al-Masri" and detained one of the wounded.

Doctor Mu'aweyah Abu Hasanin, the director of the emergency department at al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza told reporters that Abdul Rahman Ibrik ( 27 year old) was hit in his stomach and he is in a critical health condition treated in al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza while the second wounded Palestinian has not reached the hospital.

The Israeli forces also arrested in Azoun village of Qalqilya district in the West bank, two Palestinians from the Fatah movement: Hameed Abdul Rahim Abu Haneyah and Muhammad Abdul Fattah Abu Haneyah.

Palestinian sources said an Israeli military force broke into houses of the village and inspected many of its houses in search of Palestinians under the pretext they are wanted by the Israeli forces.

In retaliation to the Israeli crimes, the Palestinians on Thursday at dawn detonated four shells at a position for the Israeli army, near one of the settlements of Ghoushe Katieve in Gaza.

A position for the Israeli army in Rafah was exposed to five bombs, while one bomb was dropped at an Israeli military position in the south of Gaza.

Israel has announced that death of one settler who was wounded in the explosion took place in Haifa last week.

The Israeli- Hebrew language radio said he settler died on Thursday because of his wounds and that there are other settlers strongly wounded are still under medical treatment.

Meantime, Israel has stressed that its army does not abide by any truce in the operations carried out against the Palestinians in the occupied territories and refused giving up the policies of terrorism pursued against the Palestinians including incursion into the Palestinian territories and assassinating Intifada activists.

For his part, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon stressed the Israeli army will not halt its campaign against the Palestinian until what he called the Palestinian violence will be completely eliminated.

The Hebrew- language Israeli radio quoted Sharon as saying to the Norway's prime minister in a telephone call that Israel deliberately refuses halting the military campaign against the Palestinians until it will make sure that the Palestinian Authority could eliminate the Intifada and have arrested all wanted by the Israeli security forces and collected all weapons with Intifada activists and with members of the PA security departments.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat on Thursday announced that a meeting between officials in the Palestinian and Israeli security departments arranged by the special US official to the Middle East Anthony Zinni will be held today ( Friday).

Arafat said that Zinni phoned him after his meeting with the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres to brief him with the positive answers of the Israelis to convene a security meeting. Arafat said that, he by his turn, approved the meeting. Arafat, who was talking to journalists in conclusion of his meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher in Ramullah, in the West Bank did not define the place where this meeting will be held.
