Egypt's exports to Iraq rise to $ 1.6 billion in 2001

Egypt's exports to Iraq have risen to $ 1.62 billion during the past 11 months of the current year, against 1.50 billion in the corresponding period of last year.

Emerging from a meeting with Iraqi Trade Minister Mohamed Mahdi Saleh, Public Enterprise Minister Mokhtar Khatab said that the Egyptian products were in high demand in Iraq.

"There is a constant increase in Egyptian exports to Iraq under the UN oil-for-food program particularly after the enforcement of a free trade agreements between the two countries," he added.

He noted that he had reviewed with the Iraqi minister ad hoc panels' meetings to agree on specifications of products exchanged between Egypt and Iraq.
