Aznar must choose between Morocco and the Polisario

Morocco's King Mohammed VI has sent a crystal clear message to Spain through his latest visit to Smara (a southern Moroccan city), inviting Spanish Premier, Jose Maria Aznar to opt either for Morocco or for the Polisario, wrote Wednesday Spanish daily La Razon.

In a comment entitled Either Morocco or the Polisario, director of the daily and member of the Spanish Royal Academy, Jose Maria Anson, said King Mohammed VI has evidenced, by his recent tour in the Sahara, that this territory is Moroccan and that Morocco will never accept anything that might harm its sovereignty.

Aznar must adopt a stand regarding the polisario, Anson said, warning that protecting or assisting the Polisario might trigger a hostile policy with regard to Sebta and Melillia (two Moroccan northern cities that are still under Spanish rule).

Spain has affection links with this Marxist front, an organization that the KGB (intelligence agency of former USSR) used to protect as it used to protect ETA, IRA, the Red Brigades, Baader Meinhof, and Corsican and Breton activists, he said adding that for Morocco the Polisario is a terrorist gang.

He recalled that at a moment France's Jaques Chirac, who is a clever eagle, describes the Western Sahara as Morocco's southern provinces, the Spanish government takes the path of those who feel nostalgic for sterile progressist trends.
