Baghdad, Tehran discuss normalization of relations

The Iraqi vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan discussed with the Iranian charge de affairs in Baghdad Ameer Saeed Erawani means of accelerating the process of normalizing relations between their two countries.
The Iraqi dailies on Wednesday quoted talks held between the Iraqi vice president and the Iranian charge affairs on the occasion of ending his term of office in Baghdad that discussions centered on the importance of work to eliminate suspended problems between the two countries and to upgrade the level of co-operation in various fields.
The two sides also evaluated exchanged visits and means of strengthening bilateral relations.
Worthy mentioning that an expected visit for the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri to Tehran was postponed because of the American threats of striking Iraq. Sabri had announced readiness to head for Tehran at any time to discuss pending issues between the two countries and to open a new page with Iran.
Meantime, the chairman of the Iranian committee for the war prisoners Gen. Abdullah Najafi talked about having a progress in the issue of settling the question of war prisoners with Iraq during the current negotiations in the city of Khisrawi on the borders with Iraq.
