Egypt participates in International Conference for World Heritage Protection

Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni agreed on Egypt's participation in the 25th session of International Conference for Protecting World Heritage, organized by UNESCO in the capital of Finland Helsinki on December 6-16 with the participation of 122 countries.

The Higher Council for Antiquities Secretary General Gaballah Aly Gaballah will head Egypt's delegation.

The conference will probe a number of issues on top of which are protecting and developing Jerusalem antiquities and the UNESCO response to the Arab request and rejection of the Israeli one that called for annexing Jerusalem antiquities to its cultural possessions.

Moreover, the conference will discuss the annex of 40 movement sites from different world countries to the world monuments list.

The conference that is sponsored by UN will tackle the issue of protecting antiquities and monument sites from international disputes especially in Afghanistan, Kosovo and the Middle East region.
